Gary Lance Rose

9/27/1948 to 6/3/2020

Photo Taken at The End Of The Road Ranch @C.Rose

Gary was born in Brevard, North Carolina on September 27, 1948. He was the son of Glen and Helen Cain. He was approximately 13 years when he moved to Houston, Texas.  In 1973 while working for a small repair shop in Bellaire, Texas he met Cheryl Reitz. He was the love of her life. They married in April 1974 and lived in Houston.

Gary was employed at Tuboscope, an oil field pipe inspection company in Houston, Texas and worked as an electronic technician from 1973 until retirement in 2007. He continued work with BAE for a couple of years during retirement as a technical writer for the MRap (Humvee) vehicles going to the Middle East for the US Military.

In 2007. Gary and his beloved wife Cheryl moved to Altair, Texas to the family home, End of the Road Ranch.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus, Texas. He enjoyed his family, photography, his chickens, building electronic things, auto mechanics and teaching his knowledge to all on how to fix things. He will be remembered for his trust in God and compassion for others in need. He was kind and loving to everyone.

In December 2018 he began having kidney and prostate problems. The illnesses progressed with many ER visits and a hospital stay. In 2020, it was determined by radiology that he had a metastatic bone disease, most probably from prostate cancer. He received many units of packed red blood cells as his body could no longer produce blood. He began hospice at our home in May and passed away on June 3, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Houston Hospice or to the Go Fund Me account to help pay the many medical expenses incurred during his illness. Due to the travel restrictions and the covid outbreak there will be a memorial service at a later date.
